Mexico

Mexico is one of the most well-known countries in the southern part of North America and the third-largest country in Latin America. It is also one of the most colourful and culture-rich places in the world and it’s largely known for its unforgettable cuisine (and vibrant drinks, too!), loud parties and, of course, the beaches. THE gorgeous beaches, the main reason tourists start planning their Mexico holidays!

The most popular Mexico tourist attractions include Cancún, Tulum, Chichén Itzá, Mexico City (the capital), Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta and Oaxaca, among others. If you’re planning a visit, get ready for lots of dancing to Latin music, spicy food, tons of tequila, beautifully preserved ancient ruins and endless miles of golden sand. But beware – Mexico is a destination that’s really hard to forget! Are you ready?

If you’re excited to travel to Mexico soon, it’s time to start packing, my friends! In order to help you out, I recommend checking out all my articles about this unique country down below.

Things to know
before you go to

Mexico

Currency

Mexico’s currency is the Mexican peso (MXN). 1 USD is equivalent to around 20 Mexican pesos.

Visas

Good news! No visa is required to enter Mexico if your stay is shorter than 180 days. I recommend checking the updated info for your nationality on embamex.sre.gob.mx

Languages

The national language spoken in Mexico is Spanish and it is used by the vast majority of residents. However, the Mexican government recognises no less than 68 national languages, such as Yucatec Maya or Nahuatl. All national languages are valued equally here!

Vaccines

No vaccines are officially required for entering Mexico. However, for your own health and safety, make sure you’re up to date with all your routine vaccines.

Electrical Plugs

Mexico has two plug types - A and B. Type A has two flat parallel pins, while type B has two flat parallel pins and a grounding pin. The supply voltage in Mexico is 127V, with a frequency of 60Hz.

SIM Cards

I recommend buying a SIM card upon your arrival at the airport in Mexico. The 3 best companies for tourists are Movistar, AT&T and Telcel. Out of the three, Telcel has the best 4G network coverage.

Religions

Although the country doesn’t have an official faith, the major religion in Mexico is Roman Catholicism.

Best Time to Travel

The best time to visit Mexico is from December to April, during the dry season.
