Singapore

Singapore is, in all honesty, one of the most special places in Southeast Asia. Why? Well, first and foremost, this city-state has a whole lot of fun packed into its borders. Although it’s small, Singapore is an incredible destination for several reasons: it’s very clean, very modern, it has endless shopping opportunities and mouth-watering cuisine.

Some unmissable places to visit in Singapore include the famous Marina Bay Sands, the Gardens by the Bay, Orchard Road (get ready to shop ‘til you drop!) and Sentosa Island. And if you only have one day in Singapore, make sure you don’t miss the incredible city skyline seen from Merlion Park. The architecture is incredible!

Things to know
before you go to

Singapore

Currency

The official currency of Singapore is the Singapore dollar (SGD). 1 USD is the equivalent of 1.35 SGD.

Visas

If your trip is less than 90 days long, you won’t need a visa for Singapore. Except if you’re a citizen of the following countries: Russia, Georgia, Ukraine and more. In order to check the updated information for your nationality, access ica.gov.sg

Languages

Uh, hard question! Singapore’s history is so complex that they have no less than 4 official languages: English, Malay, Tamil and Mandarin. But you’ll get around just fine speaking English - although their dialect (Sing-lish) has been adapted so much over the years that it’s practically it’s own language.

Vaccines

No vaccines are officially required in order to enter Singapore but, for your own safety, it is best to tick these 2 off your list before departure: Hepatitis A and Typhoid.

Electrical Plugs

Singapore uses 3 different plug types: C, G, and M. C has 2 round pins, G has 3 rectangular pins in a triangle, and M has 3 round pins. The voltage is 230V and frequency is 50Hz.

SIM Cards

Getting a prepaid SIM card on your arrival at the airport in Singapore is surely the best idea. My best recommendation for tourists is Singtel or StarHub.

Religions

Singapore is a multi-religious country, the most popular one being Buddhism - around 33% of the population. Aaaand fun fact: according to a study, Singapore is officially the most religiously diverse country on the planet!

Best Time to Travel

The best time to visit Singapore is from February to April, but the country is a good choice all year round.
