Perched on the south-west tip of the Buket peninsula, Uluwatu has become THE Bali destination for magnificent sunset views, stunning beaches and dramatic cliff sides. Quieter than the popular nearby spots, such as Canggu and Seminyak, Uluwatu is the perfect place to visit if you want to stay further away from the crowds and enjoy a few uninterrupted beach moments during your vacation in Indonesia.
Uluwatu, Bali has spectacular spots and places to explore. Below, I have gathered the topmost instagrammable Bali locations in Uluwatu; the most photo-worthy sites and snap-happy locations!
This spot is the perfect place to end your day for amazing sunset shots! Located on the West coast of the peninsula, this rugged cliffside juts out over the crashing waves and rocks below. As the sun sets, the sky turns scarlet creating a dramatic, photo setting. For me, this is one of the best places to see in Bali if you love sunsets!
TIP: Please be careful when visiting this location. There is no railing around the cliff edge, (only barbed wire), so please be careful that any long or loose clothing doesn’t get caught. The ground is earthy and uneven and it can get windy so please, PLEASE take care when visiting!

If the idea of abandoned planes excites you, then Uluwatu is your kind of place for sure.
There’s an abandoned Boeing 737 towards the east of the Bukit Peninsula, just a short drive from Pandawa Beach. Access to the body of the Bali plane is restricted, fenced off with “no trespassing” signs, but you can head up a small hill to the right of the fenced area to get some cool photos.
How did this Bali airplane get here? I have no idea. There are a couple of rumours swirling about. The most popular one is that a rich Australian bought it with dreams to turn it into a themed restaurant, but he couldn’t get the correct permit, so he abandoned it here.

This seems to be THE spot in Ulu to grab a selfie! With the panoramic view of the 200-metre wide Balangan beach as your backdrop, it’s also a cool place to chill out for a moment, enjoy the view and listen to the waves crashing into the rocks below.
TIP: This is a favourite spot for wedding photographers, especially during sunset. As they tend to hog the spot, I recommend coming earlier or even at sunrise to get a snap before it gets busy.

Perched atop its cliffside location, Uluwatu cliff Temple is world-renowned for its majestic ocean views, Balinese architecture, ancient culture and splendid sunset setting. The temple is undeniably a tourist favourite in Uluwatu!
TIP: Beware the pesky monkeys! Super cute? Sure. Curious and playful? Can be. Likely to steal your phone, camera, sunglasses, wallet or all of the above? Definitely! I recommend keeping your valuables close, bags zipped up and your new furry friends at a distance. After all, it’s not called Uluwatu Monkey Temple for nothing!

Home to the bow of a graffitied shipwreck, the 2km stretch of soft white sand and clear blue waters makes Nyang Nyang Beach in Uluwatu a paradise on Earth! The beach is nice and remote and it requires a 20-minute hike down the cliffside to reach it. But trust me, the lush greenery and aqua blue waters will help you create the most Instagrammable photos!

The Edge Uluwatu is a complex of luxury villas situated on the southern cliff tops, overlooking the ocean. Their beach club restaurant and bar, Oneeighty, is by far one of the most beautiful places in Bali (and most photographed as well!) thanks to their insanely cool swimming pool! The pool has a glass floor that hangs out over the side of the cliff, looking down to the ocean. This combined with the stunning backdrop of the ocean makes oneeighty° a must visit location for their insane views!

Yep, another beach! I mean how could I not, when Uluwatu hosts some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen? And Pantai Tegal Wangi has to be one of my favorites for sure. Prepare for a beautiful hidden beach with golden powdery sand, rock pool formations and cool cliffside cut-outs.

Dreamsea accommodations have a super special place in my heart. Guga and I met while working in the Spain Dreamsea, so it’s a very special place for us as it is where we fell in love (nawww!). HOWEVER, I promise that I am not being biased when I say that Dreamsea Surf Camp is probably the most stunning place to stay in Uluwatu, Bali. Get ready for beachfront rooms with direct access to the beach, a cool sun terrace chillout area, and a restaurant/bar with an easy vibe. Dreamsea is such a stunning accommodation option in central Ulu, just a few minutes away from Padang Padang beach and Thomas beach.

Gravity Uluwatu Boutique Hotel is another stunning accommodation that has quickly become a top Bali photo spot. The white and blue décor, lush tropical gardens, and 3 stunning staggered pools make Gravity such a cool photo-worthy location. Plus, the hotel’s infinity pool overlooks the sea in the distance and some of their cute cabanas have their own private swimming pools!

Sitting 100 metres above the Indian Ocean, with 3 infinity swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, Sabaya Bali (formerly known as Omnia Beach Club), is the ultimate luxury hangout in Uluwatu. I recommend going there to soak up the sun, eat, party, listen to some DJs, swim, watch the sunset and get a pic while you’re crossing their ultra-lux bridge!

The Rock Bar is located at Ayana Resort and it’s an unmissable spot if you want to admire a superb sunset while sipping on an exotic cocktail. Take the elevator up to Ayana Rock Bar and get ready for a breathtaking view with the waves splashing on the background!
TIP: I recommend going at sunset for the best view and colors.

In case you’re not tired of Uluwatu beaches yet, I present to you: Thomas Beach Uluwatu! This little beach is probably one of the most underrated in Uluwatu, although it’s an amazing surfing spot. The crystal-clear blue waters and stretches of soft sand mixed with the vintage-inspired parasols create such a cute beach setting, worthy of tons of pictures!

Picture this: a superb beach club in Uluwatu, right on top of a cliff. Uluwatu Cliff House is a superb accommodation, restaurant and party hub that looks totally Instagram-worthy. There are photo opportunities everywhere you look, especially on the terrace overlooking the sea!

Last but not least: Bingin Beach! Bingin Beach is another superb beach with crystal blue waters and soft sand. Aaand yep, it’s another great surfing spot in Uluwatu as well! I recommend going there for the cool, laid-back vibe, colorful umbrellas and the little stone shrines on the beach. Definitely a super cute Bali photoshoot location!
