Are you planning to visit Portugal? You should have no second thoughts about it!

Although Portugal is a rather small country in Europe, right near Spain, it offers a plethora of opportunities to all types of travellers out there. Some of the best places to visit in Portugal include the gorgeous capital – Lisbon, the stunning coastline of the Algarve and, of course, the unforgettable Porto.

Things To Know Before You Go – Portugal

The currency of Portugal is, as in most European countries, the Euro.

The national language of Portugal is Portuguese, but many locals can speak conversational English as well, so this won’t be a challenge.

The main religion in Portugal is Roman Catholicism (Christianity) - around 85% of the population.

Best Time To Travel

The best time to visit Portugal is spring or autumn - good weather, warm water, not too many crowds. Summer is a fabulous choice as well, especially if you want to do some sunbathing on the beach, but keep in mind that it’s the most popular season among tourists.

Nope, no visa required here! If you’re a US citizen, you’re free to roam the country for 90 days without one.

No vaccines required either, as Portugal is a low-risk country.

SIM Cards

Buying a prepaid SIM card on your arrival in Portugal is the wisest choice. There are countless companies to choose from, but Vodafone is one of the best recommendations for travellers.
