The currency of Portugal is, as in most European countries, the Euro.

Visas

Nope, no visa required here! If you’re a US citizen, you’re free to roam the country for 90 days without one. To check the updated info for your nationality, please access vistos.mne.gov.pt/en/

Languages

The national language of Portugal is Portuguese, but many locals can speak conversational English as well, so this won’t be a challenge.

Vaccines

No vaccines required either, as Portugal is a low-risk country.

Electrical Plugs

Portugal uses type F power plug sockets with a voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz.

SIM Cards

Buying a prepaid SIM card on your arrival in Portugal is the wisest choice. There are countless companies to choose from, but Vodafone is one of the best recommendations for travellers.

The main religion in Portugal is Roman Catholicism (Christianity) - around 85% of the population.

Best Time to Travel

The best time to visit Portugal is spring or autumn - good weather, warm water, not too many crowds. Summer is a fabulous choice as well, especially if you want to do some sunbathing on the beach, but keep in mind that it’s the most popular season among tourists.
