Like so many other Southeast Asian countries, the #1 thing that pops into my mind when I think of Vietnam is food, especially street food. Then I remember the pretty villages, the countless motorbikes, bustling streets, friendly locals and the coffee as well!
My love for Vietnam is true, so I’ll make a bucket list for… you. Some of the best places to visit in Vietnam include Ho Chi Minh (its biggest city, but not the capital), Danang, Hoi An and Ha Long Bay. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the local markets, enjoy a boat tour and take a walk in the rice fields as well.
Already started planning your Vietnam itinerary? Awww yesss! Before going, I recommend checking out all my articles about this special country, so that you can organise the best Vietnam holiday for you.
If the answer is yes, I recommend checking out all my articles about this unforgettable country here, so you will be fully prepared to visit Vietnam.
Currency
The Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency of Vietnam. 1 USD is the equivalent of 23.170 VND.
Visas
Yep, you’ll need to apply for a visa to enter Vietnam. Make sure you look into which one you need and arrange it before your trip on eVisa-Vietnam.com.
Languages
The main language spoken in Vietnam is Vietnamese. But, luckily for travellers, English is basically their second language.
Vaccines
No officially required vaccines for entering the country, but for your own safety, it is recommended to have these two taken before your trip: Hepatitis A and Typhoid.
Electrical Plugs
Vietnam has three plug types: A, C, and type F. A has two flat pins, C has two round pins, and F has two round pins with earth clips. Voltage is 220V and frequency is 50Hz.
SIM Cards
Countless companies offer packages for prepaid SIM cards to travellers right at the airport. My best recommendation is Viettel.
Religions
It is said that Vietnam is an atheist country - at least officially. The truth is that around 80% of the population follows tam giáo - a trio of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
Best Time to Travel
The best time to visit Vietnam is from December to February, but it really depends on what part of the county you want to explore.
